Explore South Yorkshire on foot
Twenty walks show the greener side of South Yorkshire, ranging from the hilly western edge near the Peak District to reservoirs, valleys, country parks, canals and reclaimed landscapes around Sheffield, Barnsley, Rotherham and Doncaster.
Routes include Bradfield Dale, the Porter and Rivelin valleys, the Sheffield and Tinsley Canal, Redmires Reservoirs, Elsecar, Langsett Reservoir, Wentworth, Rother Valley Country Park, Conisbrough Castle and Sprotbrough. The county’s industrial heritage remains an important thread, but the emphasis is equally on the wildlife, countryside and new green spaces that now occupy many former industrial sites.
Each walk provides clear route directions together with mapping, photographs and practical information to help plan the outing.
