Explore Northumberland on foot
Twenty walks range across one of England’s most spectacular counties, taking in castles and historic towns, the Northumberland coast, nature reserves, forests, Hadrian’s Wall and the open country beneath the Cheviot Hills.
Highlights include Alnwick, Warkworth, Berwick-upon-Tweed, Dunstanburgh Castle, Bamburgh and the Grace Darling Walk, Hauxley and Druridge Bay, Holy Island, Kielder Water, Rothbury and Walltown on Hadrian’s Wall. Archaeology, border history, wildlife and Northumberland’s turbulent past provide a rich background to the routes.
Each walk provides clear route directions together with mapping, photographs and practical information to help plan the outing.
