Explore Greater Manchester on foot
Twenty genuine country rambles reveal the remarkable landscape around Greater Manchester, from former coalfield flashes and canal country to wooded valleys, reservoirs, moorland and the edges of the Pennines and Dark Peak.
The selection includes Pennington Flash, Dunham Massey, Worsley Woods, Haigh Hall, the Goyt and Chew valleys, Hollingworth Lake, Healey Dell and Cheesden Valley. Industrial heritage is never far away, but the emphasis is on the countryside that has survived, recovered or been rediscovered around the towns of the conurbation.
Each walk provides clear route directions together with mapping, photographs and practical information to help plan the outing.
