Explore Cheshire on foot
Twenty varied walks reveal a Cheshire of much greater contrasts than the familiar image of a flat, pastoral county suggests, ranging from the Dee Estuary and Roman Chester to wooded meres, canals, country estates and the hills on the edge of the Peak District.
The routes include Farndon and Holt, Chester’s walls and waterways, Gawsworth, Styal and the Bollin Valley, Alderley Edge, Delamere Forest, Lyme Park, Helsby Hill and Macclesfield Forest. Along the way the guide explores Cheshire’s Roman and medieval heritage, salt and mining history, canals, old railways, country houses and richly varied wildlife habitats.
Each walk provides clear route directions together with mapping, photographs and practical information to help plan the outing.
